Brush on underglaze i Firing range 1040 C - 1220 C. Velvet underglazes offer two finish possibilities. When left unglazed they have the appearance of velour or velvet. They will intensify in colour when covered in a clear transparent or gloss glaze. They can be used in detailed work as a Cone 05/06 underglaze or they can be fired up to Cone 6 and maintain their intensity and brightness. The colours can be intermixed to create a pallette of hundreds of colours and can be applied to greenware prior to bisque firing or on to bisque pieces before glazing. Velvets tolerate a wide firing range with a recommended firing temperature being that of the clay used. If left unglazed Amaco Velvets should not be used on surfaces which come in to contact with food or drink. Any dinnerware safe glazes can be used over this range to make them dinnerware safe.
